Bad News

A few days ago my dad informed me that almost all our chickens got eaten by a weasel :(!!! The weasel got into the pen and the little door was left open that night. Our bad. Anyway only 2 are left living... Leaving us with them and the 2 other hens and one rooster that were on the other side of the barn.

RIP

Garden Updates

These pictures are from mid-June so they are kind of out of date. Things are bigger now but I thought I'd post these pictures anyway. This is my first garden and I'm documenting it all. I'm pretty proud of it. I ate some of the lettuce today, and the radish should be big enough to eat soon. Everything else is growing like crazy.. the onions and potatoes are huge! The only thing that didn't grow was carrots. I heard they are hard to grow though. Anyone have any suggestions on how to grow them?

I'll update soon with more recent pictures. And soon with pictures
of the plant actually producing! :)

'Runaway Mom' and 'Sinking' (Last night's dreams)

Runaway Mom

In my first dream I was waiting with a little boy at the day camp I work at for his mother. He told me his mother had run away to Nepal. His dad showed up, who had left the family a long time ago and might hurt this child.I held the boy tightly in my arms keeping him away from the man. My boss and the man tried to rip him away from me and my boss wouldn’t let me explain to her that this man wasn’t part the of the family and was a threat!

In the next part of the dream I went traveling to find his mother. She was getting into new countries by marrying over and over. And I couldn’t bring her back.

Sinking

I was out on a boat with friends. We were celebrating freedom and breaking our barriers, running away from every day life, much like the mom in the dream before.

It was night time and there was a beautiful full moon out. My friends and I all smoked a joint, and then they all began jumping off the side of the boat into the moon reflected, calm water of the ocean.

Down below there were small rowboats with gorgeous men sitting in them awaiting for us. My friends each choose a boat and climbed in with a man. They were lovely, tanned, Italian-looking men with shoulder length, brown, wavy hair and big brown eyes. They looked suave, but were sort of rough around the edges, and very sexy, ready to run away with us and start anew.

My friends and the men sat in the boats below beckoning me to jump in. But I was scared to jump in. I yelled down “I can't, I’ll sink!”. They reassured me and I dived into the depths..

and sank right to the bottom of the deep, deep sea.

Billy Talent Concert

I went to a concert on the weekend with a good friend where the Trews, State of Shock and Billy Talent played. The first part sucked because of some of her friends getting too trashed to function and ditching her. At the point that they ditched her for the second time I was starting to think maybe I should just go home. But things got better when Billy Talent started to play and we started worming our way through the crowds to the front.

It was crazy up there!! We thought we were going to die! Big guys were crowd surfing, and everyone was so packed and pushing. At one point my friend and I fell, along with a bunch of other people. Under every one's feet our eyes widened in horror, as if we were sinking into the most violent sea possible. We scrambled to try and readjust our twisted legs into a position where we might push ourselves up, and reached up for help from strangers who were more interested in having fun then rescuing us , as we made urgent, scared yelps from below that were likely inaudible. The action continued on many peoples part, and below the waters surface, we felt as if we had been down for so much longer then we had been in reality. Watching the big, strong, swaying, legs of the crowd around me I felt like a child hopelessly lost beneath the many shoppers at a mall, so little that I was going totally unnoticed. In those few moments it felt as if time was running out, as others one by one stood up, we wondered if we would be left behind. Horrified that the next song, and moshing would resume before we were able to stand up.

I was able to get up before Kate-lynn was. She remained down, actually screaming and grabbing for me as I clutched her arms and dramatically tried to haul her up from the violent sea that imprisoned her. Finally with help from a few strangers close by- success! She stood up and wobbled, still with wide eyes , she stared quietly in shock as the next song started.

It was so dangerous and exhilarating up there! We pushed and shoved with the best of them, and practically violated every stranger due to the close proximity. However from this awkward closeness we gained an odd intimacy. It was like we were all gladiators at first, trying to hold our spots in the crowd, then apologetically grinding some sweaty, random person's ass and holding on to the guy's sweater hood in front of you to save you from another fall. People saved us several times from crowd surfers too.

At one point a fight broke out, and then a crazy mosh session right after.. that's when my friend had had enough. She grabbed my arm and pulled me to the left. We squeezed through the tiniest cracks in the crowd to no one's protest. Probably because of the clear fear in my eyes as I looked back at the violence that we were escaping. I must of looked as if I were fleeing a war torn home town of mine, because people separated like the red sea (as best they could in the packed conditions anyway) for Moses and a boy caringly placed his hand on the small of my back and boosted me forward to help me along. It felt lovely. I felt as if I were a little, dingy he was pushing gently off the dock into the open lake.

Pretty poetic for a considerate push in a concert huh? But honestly that's what it felt like.

Overall we had great fun with all this dramatic excitement. I jumped and screamed, threw my arms up in the air and belted out the lyrics to River Below, Devil in a Midnight Mass, Try Honesty, Red Flag, Surrender, Line and Sinker and Sympathy. My throat was very sore after! And my legs were like jelly after leaving the support of the crowd and trying to walk on my own again.

Wild Flower and Strawberry Picking

Here are some reasons why I love summer at home!

I went out last week and picked some daises from the fields, and Irises from the garden and arranged them the best I could in this purple tea pot. I'm not the best flower arranger but I think they looked pretty great on the kitchen table!

Here's a bunch of buttercups I found growing.

And here are the first wild strawberries of the year, a happy surprise waiting for me to find them and gobble them up in the back field.

The white and red roses are both blooming on the bushes around my yard now. Wafting a lovely perfume throughout the property.

And to top it all off a bebeautiful sunset that
I captured yesterday before bed (around 10pm).

A day at the Crick Enjoying the New Bridge!

Here's some pictures from my first real time spent down at the river this summer.

Check out this monkey I found swinging from a tree :o!
